Drake Maye has had a terrible start to the 2026 season. To follow a sophomore season that almost earned him league MVP. Maye and the New England Patriots desperately needed a win against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4 to build some positive momentum and avoid a 1-3 start. Maye had his best game of the season, connecting with wide receiver Efton Chism III for a fourth-quarter touchdown to give the Patriots a chance to win.
With the Bills leading by five points late in the fourth quarter, May rolled to his right and booted the ball into the end zone. Chism appeared to be caught by Buffalo defenders while the ball was in the air, but that didn’t stop him from extending his free hand. New England picked off Josh Allen on the next possession, and the Patriots got the win they so desperately wanted.
Chism He is a 2025 free agent out of Eastern Washington and held just five jobs this week. Chism entered the game with two catches for -1 yard on the season. It’s a truly special moment for a receiver with such a small footprint to make the best of his season and cap off a win for New England.
Maye gets credit for leading the Patriots to a comeback against the best team, but that won’t happen without Chism making this funny and surprising play for the QB. The NFL never ceases to amaze us.
