Dundee 2 – 2 Rangers

Callum Jones scored a second-half equalizer as Rangers were held to a 2-2 draw by Dundee and missed out on going top of the Scottish Premiership.

Dundee opened the scoring when Rangers failed to deal with a routine long ball, with Bradley Fink capitalizing to round the keeper and slide home.

The lead didn’t last long, however, as Badredine Bouanani slotted in and curled in a stunning equalizer to open his account for Rangers.

Nico Raskin scored the goal of the game when his shot from outside the box hit the underside of the crossbar.

Nicolas Raskin produces a wild strike to put Rangers back in front against Dundee.

But Jones then caught Dan Neil standing on the ball and slotted it past the Rangers skipper to score Dundee’s equaliser.

Rangers remain second and move a point behind Celtic, who host Hearts live on Sky Sports on Sunday from 2.30pm.

McInnes: We don’t have to score three goals to win

Rangers HEAD Derek McInnes:

“I thought Dundee’s press was good, as expected, and we wanted to try and pull the centre-backs at times and try to hit spaces and feed our wide players and try to get 1v1s.

“It never fully materialized.

“We shouldn’t be away from home and need to score three goals to win a game.

“Two goals should have been enough tonight. We had a couple of times when it went to two.

“Dundee are a good team but I think we gave ourselves an opportunity there not to get the three points.

“We are disappointed that we did not leave with three points.”

Pressley: We showed courage and determination

Dundee HEAD Steven Pressley:

“I think it was a game of two halves.

“I thought we were outstanding in the first half, really aggressive, we controlled the game a lot.

“We were really strong in the second half, we had one or two moments where we should have capitalized and restricted Rangers to very few.

“Obviously we expected a reaction from Rangers and they gave it. They put us under a lot of pressure in the second half.

“We showed courage and determination.

“The game was getting away from us but we never gave up, we just kept going and going and (Callum) Jones got his reward for a really strong performance today.”

Boyd: Dundee asked Rangers questions

Sky Sports’ Chris Boyd:

“Dundee are a good team. They are not there (in the table) by chance or luck.

“They have a style of play, Steven Pressley has a group of players willing to hit the ground running for him and that’s hard to come by.

“They put in a shift and even when asked to dig in and suffer as they did for the first 20/25 minutes of the second half.

“Then they got a second wind and went back to Rangers and asked them questions.

“A draw was a fair result. It took some great shots for Rangers to score two goals.

“There was a lack of creativity at the top of the pitch and that is something they will need to improve.”
