Former WWE Undisputed Champion Drew McIntyre shared on social media on Friday that he is returning to ring training. McIntyre, who has been absent from WWE since losing to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42, posted his little clip running the ropes to Instagram.
“Reps,” the “Scottish psychiatrist” captioned the clip. The post racked up more than 52,000 likes in just four hours, with fans commenting hoping for an early return to a WWE ring for McIntyre.
McIntyre Fatu lost in an unsanctioned match One night of WrestleMania 42. Last month he vacated the Undisputed WWE Title Cody Rhodes on the March episode of WWE SmackDown, after Fatou prevented him from using a chair at American Nightmare. McIntyre won the gold from Rhodes in the Three Stages of HellThanks to Fatu’s help.
The star had a busy schedule of Hollywood movies this year. He starred alongside “Superman” actor Henry Cavill for the “Highlander” reboot, in which he plays Cavill’s brother. McIntyre will also star in The Last Druid alongside Russell Crowe. He previously starred in The Killer Game alongside Dave Bautista, a film that hits theaters in September 2024.
Ahead of SummerSlam, reports PWInsider that McIntyre was circling several other projects in Hollywood. No firm date has been given for his return to the ring, and prior to Friday’s Instagram clip, McIntyre himself had not offered any clues on social media. The WWE Undisputed Championship is currently held by Sami Zayn on the blue brand, with McIntyre’s arch-rivals CM Punk, Kevin Owens and others vying for the gold.
