WWE 24/7 was the infamous championship one of the most chaotic things the company has done in recent memory. During the life of the title, which lasted from 2019 to 2022it was held by many stars, both in WWE and in pop culture. Drake Maverick was one of the WWE stars who helped establish the championship and the craziness surrounding it.
Maverick and his wife in June 2019 allowed WWE to film their actual weddingwhich R-Truth promptly crashed to capture the 24/7 Championship from Maverick, even pinning him in the train of his wife’s wedding dress. Maverick sat down with Simon Miller and talked about the angle and he was the one who brought it to creation.
“I just informed them. “So we (changed the title) on the plane,” he said. “We did it on the golf course. Just wanted to let you know that I’m getting married in a few weeks. I’m not saying we can do it, but there’s a window that if we did it would be the funnest thing ever.” So Dave Kapoor left it to him then. Next week I beat R-Truth for the 24/7 Championship dressed as Carmella… And stole this championship like a thief in the night. I paraded it in my undergrad because I’m a champion.”
Maverick said their wedding was beautiful, and the WWE scene, which went viral on social media and YouTube, was actually filmed between the ceremony itself and the festivities afterward. He revealed that they got the shots in one photo and his in-laws were impressed with how special it all was.
