It feels like WWE fans have watched Dominic Mysterio grow up before their very eyes Custody of Dominic ladder match at SummerSlam 2005his debut in the WWE ring as a competitor himself in 2020. The former Intercontinental Champion’s first WWE match came during the Thunderdome era, where he faced Seth Rollins in a street fight. On an episode of The Undertaker’s “Six Feet Under” podcastMysterio explained how important Rollins is to his career.
“I really liked Seth’s work,” Mysterio said. “I think just coming in, like having my first match with him and seeing how he works and how his mind works with the whole business and wrestling and how he puts a match together, he’s on another level when it comes to things like that.”
He explained that working with Rollins brought a little more technical side to his style. Mysterio said he knew he had to rise to Rollins’ level, or at least try. He said pitching ideas alongside The Visionary got his brain going and “the creative juices flowing”. He loved working with the star because Rollins knows all of his strengths.
“I don’t know if it’s because he had my first match and he seems to have seen it,” Mysterio explained. “Honestly, my first 15, 20 meetings were all with Seth because it was all during the pandemic, so he guided me through this whole thing. So I think that’s why he knows what to do and how to maneuver me and he’s the man.”
