Reyes stopped Azamat Murzakanov at 2:40 in the first round featured preliminaries at
UFC 333 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi. He landed a head kick followed by a straight left and jabs. Reyes later accused Cormier of disrespecting him by calling him a “kid” during the show.
Dominick Reyes accuses Daniel Cormier of biased comments following his UFC 333 win over Azamat Murzakanov
Reyes took aim at Cormier at X, calling the former two-division champion a “low IQ hater” and taking issue with what he saw as disrespect for his accomplishments. Cormier replied that he intended no offense.
“Yo Dom chill,” Cormier wrote back. “I’m not calling you a negative kid. I’ve only been telling you the truth. If you do amazing shit like today, I praise you. If you do something like the last fight with Johnny, I’ll tell you the truth about that too.”
Reyes questioned Cormier’s preparation for his role as commentator.
“My name is Dominick, not ‘kid,'” Reyes wrote in another post. “I am disturbed by your lack of research and knowledge when commenting. Your ‘expert’ commentary affects the opinions of average fans and has a profound effect on our lives.”
“You’re tripping, buddy, and frankly, I just find you conversational,” Cormier replied. “I actually like you. I was telling your team how amazing you looked tonight. It might have been your best performance. But this is crazy. Just stop! Seriously.”
Reyes responded that his objection was more about Cormier’s work than their personal relationship.
“I’m not your friend dude,” Reyes wrote. “But seriously, I don’t care if you really like me. I only care that you have an unbiased and well-informed colorful commentary.”
Reyes later struck a more conciliatory tone, admitting that the commentary team, like the fighters, did their best.
Dominick Reyes switches off to “low IQ hater”. Daniel Cormier after his win at UFC 333 😳 🗣️ Reyes: “Real talk, who actually likes to hear low iq hater DC? I’m sick of being the nice guy while these clowns respect and marginalize what I’ve done in this sport. These so-called ‘experts.’ And no Jon Jones
didn’t yell at us all, he yelled at you! Bad! Many times. Child.” 🗣️ DC: “O dom chill. I’m not calling you a kid in a negative way. I only told you the truth. When you do amazing things like today, I applaud you. If you do something like the last fight with Johnny, I’ll tell the Truth about that too. But these comments seem like you’ve been carrying something around for a while. You can always talk to me. I’m not too hard to find.”— Championship Stages (@ChampRDS)

My name is Dominick, not Kid. Yes, I heard your comment tonight about my struggle. How about the part where Paul called you out for your obvious bias? And what did you do? You laughed at that. No, I don’t know where to find you?? I’ve literally never seen you anywhere other than behind the cage or in a post-cage fight. What bothers me is your lack of research and knowledge while commenting. Your “expert” comment affects the opinions of ordinary fans and has a profound effect on our lives. Your clear bias against caucus fighters is frustrating, especially if you are an American fighter.
