October 13: Germany’s third tier has just sold its TV rights for a record 124 million euros ($138.7 million) over four seasons from 2027 to 2028. That’s about 31 million euros a year. For a third division.
Deutsche Telekom has renewed with the DFB and its Magenta Sport platform will broadcast all 380 matches live each season, with at least 38 of them free. ARD and DAZN take the highlights. Kicker and Leagues get clips and digital. The deal has increased by around 20 per cent over the current cycle, with revenue from the 20-team 3.Liga almost doubling from 2022-23.
“This award is the most financially successful media rights auction in the history of the 3.Liga,” said Holger Blask, general secretary of the DFB.
