As tag teams like The New Day and The Motor City Machine Guns have left WWE. AEW’s tag team division continues to go from strength to strength. That fact was on display at last month’s AEW All In, where the Young Bucks, FTR, Cope & Cage, MCMG and New Level (as the New Day are now known) all went head-to-head at Wembley Stadium. Speaking SBNation, Dax Harwood of FTR highlighted the current strength of the division.
“It’s more exciting in AEW now than it’s ever been in our entire time here, and that’s the honest-to-God truth,” he said. “I think it’s almost undeniable to say that AEW is the home of tag team wrestling.”
In addition to the aforementioned teams, Harwood went on to list other notable duos in AEW, from the Gunn Club to the Rascalz, who he admitted were coming to fill FTR’s spot on the roster.
“On top of that, you also have some of the greatest tag teams of all time. Obviously FTR, The Young Bucks and Cope and Cage, but now with Austin Creed and Kofi, you’ve got The New Level, one of the greatest tag teams of all time,” he continued. Harwood then went on to praise the Motor City Machine Guns, stating that they could also lay claim to being the greatest tag team of all time. “So if you’ve got five of the best teams from the last 30 years in one company under one roof, with some of the biggest young talent in the world.”
This weekend at AEW All Out, FTR will face Cope & Cage and the Young Bucks in a three-way ladder match with the World Tag Team Championship on the line.
