This season of Dana White’s Contender Series was one of the best ever, but it doesn’t look like it will be good enough to stretch the schedule in the near future.
Tuesday night’s Week 10 episode was the final event of the year Contender series Season 10 (results HERE). Surprisingly, it was one of the weaker cards of the season, but still provided some fun fights for fans looking for some mid-week violence. Four more contracts were handed out and the season was put to bed.
Despite the success of the show – including Paramount+ ratings and the type of talent to be signed — White has no plans to extend the length of future seasons. The show itself is obviously coming back for an 11th season next year, but it’s still 10 weeks. This may disappoint many fight fans who enjoy Tuesday night fights and seeing who could be the next big star, but apparently a 10-week schedule is already too much for the UFC production team.
Check it out below and let us know if you think it’s worth extending the upcoming seasons Contender series!
“Things in life are still messed up because of COVID,” White said at Tuesday’s post-event news conference (see HERE). “The talent pool is not as deep as it would have been had COVID not happened.
“Maybe in a couple of seasons we can extend it and make it longer, but I think right now we’re at the limit of what we can do with The Contender.”
