Dallas Wings to play home games at American Airlines Center in 2027

The Dallas Wings are getting a major upgrade. The Wings will play theirs 2027 season at the American Airlines Center, also home to the NHL’s Dallas Stars and the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.

Since moving to Dallas from Tulsa in 2016, the Wings have played at UT Arlington’s 6,251-seat College Park Center. The American Airlines Center has a capacity of about 20,000 for NBA games and reached 20,409 when the Wings hosted the Indiana Fever last season.

The Wings consistently rank in the bottom third of the WNBA in attendance, thanks in part to the size of their building. Expectation with two consecutive picks no. 1 — Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd — is that the team can regularly fill a bigger arena. Dallas was one of the bigger draws in 2026; teams have opened their upper bowl for Wings games, and the league set a regular-season record of 20,996 at a game between Dallas and the Toronto Tempo last month in Montreal.

The Wings had previously planned to move downtown to the Dallas Memorial Auditorium in 2026, but there were construction delays on the renovation project. The Dallas morning news reported that renovations are expected to be completed in time for the 2028 season. That arena, which once hosted the ABA’s Dallas Chaparrals, would only be able to seat about 9,000 fans.

The franchise is still in the process of building a practice facility in west Dallas that will be ready for the 2027 season.
