Dalen Terry, Thunder Agree To Two-Year Deal

Free agent wing Dalen Terry reached an agreement to sign a standard two-year contract with Thunderinforms ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Terry was in training camp with Golden State this fall on a non-guaranteed Annex 9 contract before being refused at the end of the preseason. As Charanya points out, the former first-round pick reported to the Santa Cruz Warriors before the start of the G League season, but will leave the Warriors’ affiliate to sign with Oklahoma City.

Terry, the 18th overall pick in the 2022 draft, spent three-and-a-half years with the Bulls before being traded to the Knicks before being traded to the Pelicans in 2026 at the trade deadline. After being waived by New Orleans, the 24-year-old signed a two-way contract with the Sixers and was assigned to Philadelphia’s regular roster at the end of the 2025-26 season.

The deal Terry signed with the 76ers spanned two seasons, but was non-guaranteed for 26/27 and was waived in July when the club needed cap space to sign LeBron James.

Terry played 218 regular-season games for the Bulls and Sixers, but his impact at the NBA level was limited. The 6-foot-6 swingman is posting career averages of 3.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 11.2 minutes per game while shooting .443/.314/.638.

While Terry is unlikely to play a significant role for the Thunder, he will provide some much-needed wing depth for a crumbling stick that has been lacking Jalen Williams, Cason Wallaceand Chet Holmgren due to lingering injuries. Holmgren (torn right knee) is likely out at least through December, and it’s unclear if Williams (fractured fibula and sprained ankle) or Wallace (torn labrum) will be able to return this season.

Oklahoma City has cap space on its standard 15-man roster and won’t need to make the necessary moves to sign Terry, whose contract is likely to be non-guaranteed. The team earlier reached a tentative agreement to sign another free agent wing, Broken blackbut that deal fell through after Holmgren’s injury was diagnosed, and it was reported at the time that the front office wanted to reevaluate its options.

As we noted during Agbaji’s initial deal, filling that 15th roster spot will be important for the Thunder as it will give them more flexibility to use their players on two-way contracts without being subject to requirements The “under 15” rule.. It also potentially allows them to apply for a difficulty exception to add additional reinforcements for 10-day trades.
