It’s the wrestlers reaching a new level of earning powerso much so that Cody Rhodes believes WWE Superstar pay is closer to that of athletes in mainstream professional sports.
during a recent interview with “Botsavar”, Rhodes offered a look at how WWE’s salary structure has evolved, citing company president Nick Khan.
“Nick Khan had a great quote, ‘These guys are going to be fine. These guys are going to do really well, and then these couple guys, they’re going to take it to the next level.” And that next-level salary is now comparable to sports,” Rhodes said. “That’s the part that makes me so proud to be a wrestler, because when you hear about baseball contracts and NBA contracts, and as a wrestler you know you can go all over the world and be recognized and seen, but you weren’t at that level. You were at the penetration level, but not at the revenue level.
Rhodes described the money in the wrestling business as “very good” and the money in WWE contracts is now guaranteed. “American Nightmare” believes his late father Dusty Rhodes would be particularly “shocked” by today’s payout.
After returning to WWE in 2022, Rhodes moved into the main event scene, where he won the Undisputed WWE Championship on three separate occasions. He currently finds himself feuding with Randy Orton, his former mentor in the stable known as Legacy and a 14-time world champion.
