Gane challenged Aspinall
Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title last October. The fight ended in an unfortunate no-contest after a double eye jab from Gane made it impossible for Aspinall to continue. The Frenchman has now lashed out at his English colleague, calling him “mentally fragile”.

Gane believes Aspinall had every right to stop the fight after the eye poke. But “Bon Gamin” says the Brit was unwise to whine about it in public after the fight. He also claims he continued to fight despite having impaired vision after being poked in the eye during his stoppage victory. Derrick Lewis in 2021.
“Tom Aspinall was really considered a monster, like a freak of nature, but when you look at the numbers, it’s a different story, you know?” Gane said on the “Zack En Roue Libre” podcast. “There are a lot of things where even mentally we knew he was a little fragile mentally; we had understood with him. The way he celebrated after the fights, his body language, etc. The way he communicated and so on; we suspected that he was a little fragile. And finally everything that happened after our fight definitely confirms it. It’s your right, but you don’t have to do everything you did in public because it happened to me before I fought Derrick Lewis and my seeing did not improve.
Aspinall has been sidelined after battling eye complications. Gane won the interim heavyweight title by knockout Alex Pereira at
UFC Freedom 250 last June to set up a rematch and unification of the titles, but Aspinall recently vacated the title.
Gane has now been promoted to Undisputed Champion and plans to defend his title against The Undefeated Josh Hockey
at UFC 334 November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
