Jordan Henderson scored twice more Chelsea got back to winning ways in style with a 5-1 thrashing Bournemouth.

The Blues had three weeks to soak up their 3-0 defeat at Brentford before the international break, and made a quick start with two goals in 149 seconds.

Veteran midfielder Henderson broke the deadlock 66 seconds later, before Morgan Rogers scored his 50th career goal for the club with just under two-and-a-half minutes on the clock.

Bournemouth stemmed the tide until half-time, but Chelsea quickly went ahead to start the second half as Joao Pedro made it 3-0, only for Evanilson to give Bournemouth some hope.

However, the game was put beyond doubt with Pedro’s second, before a fine Henderson free-kick rounded off the rout.

Henderson opened his Chelsea account when Cole Palmer marked the signing of a new contract with a superb assist as he burst into the box before turning to lay off for Henderson to beat Djordje Petrovic with a curling finish.

And just over a minute later it was 2-0, as, after a shot from Pedro Neto was parried by Petrovic, Rogers saw Antonio Silva deflect a curling shot.

This goal it marked the first time Chelsea had held a 2-0 lead in the Premier Leaguebut Bournemouth eventually settled and only a brilliant double save from Emiliano Martinez prevented the Cherries from finding their way back into the game, the Argentine denying Rayan and Ryan Christie in quick succession.

The visitors paid for not taking those chances as Pedro gave them a mountain to climb, crashing into the roof of the net following a Pedro Neto reaction in the opening minute of the second half following a poor save by Silva.

Marco Rose’s winless side had a lifeline when Chelsea failed to clear a corner and Moises Caicedo’s clearance fired past the lucky Evanilson.

But just when Bournemouth seemed to be growing in belief, any hopes of a comeback were extinguished as Pep Chavarria got behind the visitors’ high defensive line and picked out Pedro in the six-yard box, giving the Brazilian a simple finish.

Henderson had the last word in wonderful fashion, curling home a free-kick from 30 yards to cap off a wonderful afternoon for Chelsea, who moved up to fifth in the Premier League, leaving Bournemouth with just three points from six games.
