After Jourdain hit the canvas and signaled she didn’t want to continue, the referee stepped in, handing Vera her first finish in four years. While there was initially confusion over Jourdain’s gesture, “Air” has now revealed why he quit the fight after a third-round knockdown because he couldn’t see anything.
“I lost my sight in the third period,” Jourdain wrote on Instagram. “I waved the fight off because I don’t need to take any more blows to the head. I lost. I failed.”
Jourdain has enjoyed a busy run since dropping down from featherweight. UFC 331.
