The Celtics used their rookie team options on the wings Baylor Schaerman and Hugo Gonzalez for the 2027/28 season, trans RealGM Journal of Official NBA Transactions.
Scheierman, the 30th pick in the 2024 draft, was a regular in Boston’s rotation as a second-year player last season, averaging 5.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 18.6 minutes per game over 77 games with a solid .453/.399/.903 shooting percentage.
Scheierman, who will make about $2.74 million this season, is now guaranteed $4.95 million for ’27/28. He will be eligible for restricted free agency in 2028 unless he signs a rookie-scale extension in the 2027 offseason.
