Canada recalled Alysha Corrigan and Sophie de Goede for Friday WXV Global Series conflict with England in Toronto.
Changes include the return of Corrigan and Asia Hogan-Rochester on the wing. Corrigan missed the September games against Scotland, England and France with an injury. It will be the 29-year-old’s first Test appearance as a woman Rugby World Cup Final 2025.
Alexandra Tessier moves to half-half, prompting Taylor Perry to move to inside centre, where she will partner Florence Symonds.
Included in the package is a refund for Sophie de Goede. The World Under-15 Rugby Player of the Year was rested for Canada’s 21-5 loss to France three weeks ago. Her inclusion in the lockup, along with Laetitia Royer, sees Rachel Smith move to the blind side.
Julia Omokhuale and Lizzie Gibson complete the back row, while Mikiela Nelson, Kiki Idowu and DaLeaka Menin make up the front row.
Friday’s game is expected to be played in front of nearly 18,000 fans at BMO Field, breaking the attendance record for a single women’s rugby game in North America.
Kévin Rouet, Canada’s head coach, said: “It was good to be back in Canada to train and prepare knowing we will have a record crowd supporting us on Friday night.
“These opportunities to play at home in front of our fans don’t come along very often, so we’re focused on the finer details of our game and we’ve been grinding the past few weeks to make sure we’re ready. It’s going to be fun. We’re excited to get out of that tunnel on Friday.”
