Nottingham Forest Manager Oliver Glasner described his side’s defeat at former club Crystal Palace as “karma”.
Forest won 3-1 in Glasner’s first return to Selhurst Park since leaving Palace in the summer after leading them to FA Cup and Conference League glory.
Dan Ndoye opened the scoring for the visitors inside the first 5 minutes and for the next 35 minutes it was one way.
Liam Delap wasted two great chances to extend the lead before Palace seemingly failed to equalize through Daichi Kamada.
The comeback was completed at half-time when Jefferson Lerma headed in a corner, while Yeremy Pino secured the points just before the hour mark.
Glasner reacts to the “crazy” game.
Speaking after the game, Glasner admitted his side had failed to “kill the game” but insisted his players “did everything” to try and get a result.
“We didn’t finish the game and we should have, creating so many chances,” Glasner said.
“I’ve played a lot of games here (Selhurst Park) and I haven’t seen a team create so many chances.
“In the end we didn’t convert them, we conceded both goals before half-time, we had two great chances but then we conceded the slapstick goal and we’re losing 3-1.
“Today it feels like I’m responsible for it, call it karma or whatever, but it was like I didn’t deserve to win at Selhurst Park because the players did everything. Nobody to blame for anything, the effort was there and the quality was there.
“This performance will give us confidence even if it seems strange with the result. Crazy game, but for us it is important not only to look at the result.”
Next up for Forest is the visit of defending champions Arsenal on Sunday, while Palace travel to France to play Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday before taking on Brighton in the so-called M23 derby next weekend.
