Bully Ray was full of praise for this past week.”WWE Raw:In Mexico, especially the Intercontinental Championship match between Chad Gable and hometown hero Dragon Lee.
Gable and Lee had an action-packed, fast-paced match on Monday night’s show, where the latter came close to dethroning the champion. Speaking of “Destroyed gap,” Rey applauded Lee’s performance in the match, noting how he had his best performance in his last few matches in WWE.
“In the last month, I’m going to call it four to six weeks, Dragon Lee had a great match with Ray Phoenix that put Ray Phoenix in the finals against Penta, and Dragon Lee had a great match with Chad Gable last night. I want to give Dragon Lee his props this morning. Oh my god, what a great partner at home in the ring,” said Rey.
The former WWE star praised the match between Lee and Gable so highly that he wondered if the main event between Penta and Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship could live up to it given the standard of the Intercontinental Championship match.
“Because I didn’t know if the main event could follow what we got from Gable and Lee. In my soul, the battle between psychology and style, I know it’s possible. But after all the emotional energy we got from that crowd with Dragon Lee and Gable, I said, Like, I could imagine those two guys walking back through the curtain and looking at Roman and Penta and saying, “Follow it.”
Rey said that the ECW locker room often challenges others to do better than they showed in their matches, which he felt many of the matches on last week’s Raw managed to do, particularly the Lee-Gable clash.
