After rejecting him from his standard contract on Saturday, art Bucks brought back forward Pete Nanceannouncing today (via Twitter) that he was re-signed to a two-way deal.
Milwaukee had an open two-way slot for most of the offseason nearby Cormac Ryan and Cam Jonesso no corresponding steps were necessary to make room for Nance. The team now has a full 18-man roster entering the regular season, with 15 players on standard contracts and three on two-way contracts.
Brother of the Pacers big man Larry Nance JrPitt played in 47 games for Milwaukee last season, averaging 5.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game while shooting 51.5% from the floor, including 42.0% from three.
The Bucks opted to opt out of Nance’s previous deal in July before his 2026-27 salary became fully guaranteed and re-signed him to a new two-year, minimum-salary deal days later.
Although the club hoped to keep him, he became one of the odd men out on a roster that featured 17 players on standard deals for 15 regular season spots. Milwaukee too cut out security guard Kevin Porter Jr on Monday to reach the 15-person limit before opening.
Nance has just three years of NBA service and didn’t receive more than $91,000 in guaranteed money from Milwaukee before being waived, so he remained eligible to sign a two-way contract with the team when he reached free agency. The Bucks are said to have been concerned the 26-year-old would have other suitors after being sacked, but they were eventually able to re-sign him just hours after he cleared waivers.
Nance will be eligible to appear in 50 regular-season games for Milwaukee while on his two-way contract, which will pay him $678,882, unless it is waived by the league’s guaranteed salary deadline in January.
