New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters on Wednesday, October 21, that he has agreed to a contract extension with the club. The deal is in place, though final details are not yet official and no length or salary figures have been reported. Cashman has run the Yankees since 1998 — the longest-serving GM in franchise history and in Major League Baseball — and his teams have never had a losing season, winning 4 World Series titles and 7 AL pennants. The 2026 Yankees won 93 games and swept Boston in the Wild Card round before being swept by Tampa Bay in the ALDS, extending the title drought to 17 seasons. With manager Aaron Boone also retained, owner Hal Steinbrenner is keeping both in place.
