Allen (28-7) handed Duncan (15-3) his fourth straight win with a fifth-round rear naked choke. Muhammad said Allen still had five days left on antibiotics after the fight.
“What people don’t know is that Brendan had a staph infection since Tuesday of fight week,” wrote Muhammad Xs. “I had to get antibiotics, they still have 5 days left and despite all that adversity he went out and finished. Never complained, never made excuses, just found a way to win. That’s my brother’s proud heart.”
Allen earned a performance of the night bonus for the submission and called out the former champion In Dricus du Plessis for his next match.
