One of the biggest stars in the NFL plays for the Atlanta Falcons. His name is Bijan Robinson.
Last week was tough for the Falcons, they didn’t exactly enjoy the finals, but we have to know this. One of the greatest talents in recent NFL memory calls Atlanta home, he will be for a while now that he has a new contract extension, and he will be given a chance to play alone in Atlanta.
The season opener saw Bijan compete for the most missed tackles in the league, but more importantly he accounted for 65.8% of Atlanta’s total yards from scrimmage against the Steelers. That was the most kickoff return by any NFL player since Eric Dickerson’s 66.6% for the Rams in 1986.
One part I personally love about Bijan is his appreciation for what came before him. A dynamic player wearing No. 7 for the Falcons is nothing new if you’re a millennial or older, and when I had the chance to speak with Bijan earlier this week, I was curious about what it would be like to be a part of that legacy.
Bijan joins SB Nation on behalf of his partnership with SONIC. SONIC’s newest promotion is their $7 Big Deal meal which now includes a SONIC Cheeseburger, a medium drink (choice of soft drink or iced tea), choice of a medium tot or fries and a vanilla sundae. Talk about compromise. And he gave the appropriate relationship to the number.
It’s interesting to think about the future player after Bijan, wearing that number and having to live up to the legacy. Both Robinson and his predecessor in the club in Mike Vick.
Honestly… when you have a player like Bijan, you are in the game no matter what. I expect this to continue as long as he wears #7 for the Atlanta Falcons.
