Benfica sign kit and naming rights deal with adidas

September 15: Benfica and adidas have extended one of European football’s longest-running kit relationships for another six years, with the German sportswear giant also taking naming rights to the club’s academy and training centre.
The new agreement will extend until 2033 and the Seixal facility will be renamed adidas Benfica Campus.
Financial terms have not been disclosed, but the naming element gives the revamp a wider commercial reach than a simple kit extension. The campus has become one of Benfica’s biggest assets, producing players such as Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, Rubén Dias and Joao Neves since its opening in 2006.
Adidas first supplied Benfica between 1983 and 1990 before returning in 1997/98. The relationship has continued continuously since then, making it the oldest partnership in Portuguese football.
The Benfica Campus celebrates its 20th anniversary this month, with the club’s 2026/27 home and third kit already designed around the milestone.
Benfica president Rui Costa said: “The renewal of this partnership represents the continuation of a strong relationship built on shared values, trust and a constant ambition to achieve excellence. Adidas has been present at some of the most significant moments in the history of Sport Lisboa and Benfica, and we are delighted to start a new chapter in this collaboration.
“The name adidas Benfica Campus further strengthens this connection and recognizes the strategic importance of a space that is fundamental to the present and future of the Club, where we develop athletes, nurture dreams and build the next generations of Benfica talent.”
Adidas sees the addition of its name on campus as a permanent partnership with Benfica’s player development operation, rather than limiting its visibility to shirts and retail.
Sam Handy, adidas General Manager of Football, said: “Sport Lisboa and Benfica is one of football’s great institutions, with a rich history, a distinctive identity and some of the most passionate supporters in the game. We are proud to extend our partnership until 2033 and continue a relationship that has spanned generations of players and fans.
“The adidas Benfica Campus represents the future of the Club, a place where talent is developed, ambitions are realized and the next chapter of Benfica begins. We look forward to continuing to create products that celebrate the Club’s heritage while inspiring the next generation of Benfica fans around the world.”
Adolfo Haendler, CEO of adidas Iberia, added: “The relationship between adidas and Sport Lisboa e Benfica is one of the longest and strongest in adidas history. It is a connection built over decades, based on trust, closeness and a shared ambition, and which occupies a very special place in the history of the brand.
“Extending this partnership until 2033 is therefore much more than continuing an agreement: it is about reaffirming the connection between two brands that live football with the same passion and intensity. The adidas Benfica Campus now adds a new chapter to this relationship and further strengthens our commitment to Benfica.”
