Bayern 2 – 2 Dortmund

Harry Kane missed a penalty for Bayern Munich and was punished by Fabio Silva’s late equalizer as Borussia Dortmund earned a 2-2 draw in Der Klassiker.

It was Kane’s first appearance since winning the Ballon d’Or and he was honored in Munich before kick-off, making his entrance separate from the other players, but the game itself turned into a Halloween nightmare for him in the second half.

With Bayern leading through Konrad Laimer’s goal, Kane saw his penalty hit the crossbar before Serhou Guirassy equalized after the Bayern striker had been stripped in the formation. Even his assist for Dayot Upamecano’s goal was not enough.

Harry Kane stepped up and missed a huge penalty against Borussia Dortmund

That was because Silva came off the bench to equalize for Niko Kovac’s side in the 89th minute and although Lennart Karl hit the crossbar with the final shot of a dramatic performance, Dortmund continued to stay level on points at the top of the Bundesliga table.

It was another Englishman, Jobe Bellingham, who popped up to open the scoring after a mix-up involving Upamecano. But it was sent off after a VAR review showed Carney Chukwuemeka collided with the keeper as Bellingham slotted home.

Bayern, who have averaged over five goals per game at home this season, took immediate advantage when Michael Olise, who had earlier hit the post, sent Laimer through and the Austrian finished at the second attempt.

Dortmund’s equalizer was a shock given Bayern’s dominance, but good work from Guirassy created the opening to leave Kane sweating. He looked to have saved himself blushes with a key assist, but Silva’s intervention made it a night to forget for the Bayern number 9.

This is a difficult period for Bayern with a busy schedule coming at a time when they are without recovering manager Vincent Kompany and a growing injury list. With Luis Diaz already out, Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry went off injured in the first half.

Perhaps they will be content to just get through this run with their unbeaten record intact, but this was an opportunity to open a gap on their arch-rivals. Silva’s strike, with a little help from Kane’s rare swagger, means their records remain identical.

Highlights from Munich…

10 – POST! Olise hit the crossbar with a curling shot

24 – CHANCE! Saibar lost one on one and came out injured

34 – ALLOWED! Bellingham denied with Chukwuemeka offside

38 – GOAL! Laimer went the other way to open the scoring

57 – MISSING PENALTY! Kane hit the crossbar with his spot kick

60 – GOAL! Guirassy fired home with his left foot to equalize for Dortmund
