The American Hockey League remembers Barry Melrosewho died on Wednesday at the age of 70.
Before becoming a national hockey analyst for ESPN, Melrose played 248 games as a defenseman during an 11-year career with the AHL’s Springfield Indians, St. Catharines Saints and Adirondack Red Wings from 1976-1987. He later spent three seasons as head coach of the Red Wings in the 29th Guid Cup.
Melrose also skated in 300 games in the NHL with Winnipeg, Toronto and Detroit, and coached the Los Angeles Kings to the 1993 Stanley Cup Final.
