Aston Villa 6-0 Fenerbahce: Manzambi and Jackson score in ruthless Villa display in Champions League

Johan Manzambi, Nicolas Jackson, Ross Barkley and Tammy Abraham were on hand Aston Villa put Fenerbahce to the sword in a 6-0 win at the Champions League.

Manzambi, who made his first appearance in Europe’s elite competition on his 21st birthday, scored for the second time in three games for his new club in the 12th minute, curling a shot past Milan Skriniar following a corner.

Another summer signing followed soon after at the other end as Zion Suzuki made two crucial saves to preserve Villa’s lead in the early stages of the game, before curling another over the crossbar.

Fenerbahce threatened, particularly through Mason Greenwood, who appeared in England for the first time since leaving Manchester United, but Jackson put Villa in control with a quick-fire brace before the break.

The former Chelsea striker scored with two similarly ferocious finishes into the bottom left corner of the net for his fourth and fifth goals since his time at Villa Park.

Villa brought on Ibrahim Mbaye at the break, with that front three alongside Jackson and Manzambi linking up superbly all night, with the home side quite comfortable in the second half despite periods of pressure from the visitors.

The brilliant Manzambi was again involved as Villa grabbed the chance to make it 4-0 from the penalty spot after he got past Skriniar. Instead of Jackson taking the spot for his hat-trick, Barkley stepped up and fired the penalty into the bottom corner.

Barkley then had his second of the night and Villa’s fifth, curling in from the edge of the box for another deflection for a performance that really looked like the true arrival of Emery’s new side from Unai.

There was still time for Villa to add a sixth as Alysson beat his man before finding fellow substitute Abraham to tap into the empty net.

Europa League winners Villa have taken maximum points on their return to the Champions League, having defeated Club Brugge 3-2 in their first leg of the league.
