Tsarukyan admitted that the opening minutes of the match were difficult after Luffy hit some clean shots, but he was confident that he would eventually find the finish.
“I feel great,” Tsarukyan said in a post-fight interview. “I was looking for the finish and even the first round was kind of rough, but I knew I was going to finish him. The first shots, it’s always hard to defend because we’re both fresh. But Luffy is one of the best strikers, you know, we shouldn’t forget that.”
“Batman” suffered swelling around his eye from Luffy’s punch, but was able to mix up his martial arts and find the finish.
“I’m such a well-rounded fighter,” added Tsarukyan. “I know like wrestling, just wrestling, you can’t win fights. You have to mix it up. I made the best statement I could make today.”
