Having been moved to Wednesday night to avoid election night coverageWWE is doing everything they can load up NXT vs. AEW’s Blood & Guts edition of AEW Dynamite. And back John CenaWith CM Punk, UFC fighter Michael Chandler and other major stars already lined up for the show, WWE decided another big name wouldn’t hurt either. PWInsider Elite: reports that Paige was spotted in Orlando, Florida, and WWE sources confirmed that she was “brought in” for tonight’s NXT.
There was no confirmation as to what Paige would be doing, although it was speculated that she could be an opponent for Kelani Jordan, who issued an open challenge for her NXT Women’s Championship. This is despite previous speculation that Jordan’s opponent will be IYO SKY, who Jordan faced on Raw a few weeks ago. Longtime NXT viewers will remember that Paige was the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion, winning the title back in 2013. Paige would never lose the title, instead vacating the title in early 2014 after being called up to the main roster and winning the Divas Championship.
Whether Paige challenges Jordan or is involved in another aspect of the show, most eyes on NXT will likely be focused on Cena and Punk. The former is expected to reveal more details about the John Cena Classic, set for Dec. 14 at Disney World, while the latter has a chance to make history. as he challenges Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship. A win would mean Punk held the WWE Men’s World Championship.
