Andrade El Idolo Beats Tommaso Ciampa, Retains AEW National Title At WrestleDream 2026

Andrade El Idolo wanted to prove AEW WrestleDream 2026 that he was still the “True Latin American” defending his AEW National Championship against Tommaso Ciampa, and after Ciampa’s emotions got the best of him, Andrade left WrestleDream with his title reign intact.

The two went for a move, and the counter was countered at first, but it was Andrade who gained control, hitting three amigos on the outside before returning to the ring for a Split-Legged Moonsault for a nearfall. He had time to flirt at ringside, but Andrade took too much time and landed a knee to the face as he got caught in the ropes, and when Ciampa came outside he also took a selfie, albeit with his wife and daughter in the front row.

After failing to hit the Psycho Driver, Ciampa landed another knee, this time in the corner, and took a page out of Andrade’s book and kicked his trunks, which fell onto the announce table. As soon as he went back, Andrade also took off his pants to reveal his own trunks, but was caught with his pants down when Ciampa cut him off. Ciampa went for a Superplex, but Andrade fought him off, and even with his pants around the ankles, landed a Moonsault for a two count.

Andrade went for his Psycho Driver, but Ciampa tried to counter the Sunset Flip Powerbomb, only for Andrade to roll over and land a pair of running knees for another two count. The champion again took a high risk, but was pushed to the outside by his challenger, who then went free with Andrade’s pants. With Ciampa busy with Andrade’s pants, the champion came back with a Spinning Back Elbow for another near fall, but Ciampa got the near fall with a running knee.

A series of rolls led to a double takedown and after an exchange of strikes, Andrade hit the Dia de Los Muertos, but Ciampa rolled to the outside. However, he feigned an injury as he used the operator as a distraction for another near fall with a running knee, which led to Ciampa grabbing the title belt and a chair, which referee Aubrey Edwards stopped him from using. While Edwards was distracted, Andrade hit the Widow’s Bell on the title belt and followed with a DM for the win.
