The National Association of Basketball Players announced in a press release what Bucks a great man Miles Turner was elected Vice President of the NBPA Executive Committee. Turner will begin his three-year term immediately, replacing him Temple Garrettwho ended his career at the end of last season. Temple joined the Mavericks coaching staff.
“I am very excited to join the executive committee at such an important time for our league and ready to take on this leadership role in the PA.” Turner said. “It is an honor to be selected by my peers and I am committed to advancing the priorities that matter most to players across the league.”
Temple was first elected Vice President of the NBPA Executive Committee in 2017 and was re-elected in 2021 and 2024.

- The NBA and NBPA have joined every other major sports league in the country in calling on state gambling regulators to crack down on escalating harassment and violent threats by sports bettors. ESPN’s David Purdum reports. This group has sent a letter to gambling regulators in 35 states and the District of Columbia, proposing a lifetime ban from legal sports betting offices for individuals who harass or threaten professional or amateur athletes, coaches, officials, team personnel or their families. Five states — Louisiana, Massachusetts, Ohio, West Virginia and Wyoming — already have similar policies, and some of the biggest sportsbooks have taken steps to combat the problem.

- The teams have traded a total of eight unprotected picks this offseason, and that’s a significant development. Chris Dempsey of DempsAndCircumstances.com writes. Dempsey notes that many big-name players have been dealt, and those deals usually involve a lot of draft capital. However, the upgraded lottery system, designed to discourage tanks, also played an important role. While these unprotected picks are still valuable, that value has taken a significant hit.
