Alexis Mac Allister ‘very sad’ after Liverpool snub chance to offer him a new contract

Alexis MacAllister has revealed his disappointment at not being offered a new contract Liverpoolcalling the club’s reluctance to extend his stay at Anfield “very sad”.

“I think everyone can see that I give 100% for this club, every day in training, I play good games, bad games. I always give my best.

“I see Dominik (Szoboszlai) and Ryan (Gravenberch) renewing their contracts, which makes me happy, but at the same time I’m sad that I didn’t get mine.

“There is still time, I will give 100% until my last day, we will see what happens.

“There were options to leave this summer. I’m at the right club right now.”

Asked if he knew why the club were unwilling to give him a new deal, the 27-year-old added: “Not really, I didn’t have any direct conversations. They were with my agent.

“I don’t want to say things they never said, but they said they weren’t in a position to renew me.”

Mac Allister is confident of Liverpool’s good season

Mac Allister joined Liverpool from Brighton in 2023 for a £35m deal and played a key role in the club’s title success under Arne Slot in the 2024/25 season.

“I think we have improved a lot since the start of the season, we want to win trophies. We have experience, we have trophies, we have everything to be successful, but we have to be together.

“You can have the best players, the best ideas, but if we’re not on the same page, it’s impossible.”
