Current wrestling fans can catch on Zayda Steel performs on AEW and Ring of Honor programming. Turn back the clock, though, and they’ll see a young Steele glued to his TV screen watching his favorites in the WWE.
Some time recently virtual signature with Captain’s CornerSteele revealed that many of her childhood heroes held either the WWE Divas or Women’s Championship. Among their male representatives, “Phenom” also managed to stand out.
“I loved like AJ Lee. Obviously, I love horsemen. Who didn’t love Kelly Kelly, you know? So I loved all the divas,” Steele said. “When it came to guys, I only liked The Undertaker, older guys to keep my attention, but when I was younger, all the girls. It was like Undertaker. The Boogeyman played a weird part of my childhood, so I have to throw him in there. I gave him a shout out because he did a great job, I’m a wrestler now and I’m still traumatized.”
In August, Steele enjoyed a full-circle moment when she faced Mercedes Monae, a former member of the Four Horsewomen. meeting on “AEW Collision”. “The CEO” went on to knock down “The Real Deal” awarded to his Statement Maker presentation. Monae, along with Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and Becky Lynch, previously managed WWE in the 2010s and early 2020s, before the former departure of Sasha Banks in 2022. later joined AEW in 2024.
