A terrible moment happened at AEW All out! when a botched spot led to the doctor stopping a tag team match that pitted Darby Allyn and Stephen Borden against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight. Borden was injured when he jumped over the top turnbuckle in an attempt to meet Knight in the air, and crashed to the mat seemingly unresponsive. The son of wrestling legend Sting was taken from the ring on a stretcher.
AEW commentator Tony Schiavone had a positive update on Borden “What happened when?On Tuesday. He said he spoke to the Star on the phone Monday and Borden was fine, but Schiavone was unable to offer an official diagnosis.
“He had no headaches, he had no dizziness,” Schiavone said. “But I can say that after talking to him, he said I am fine. He told me. “In all the years I played football at the University of Kentucky,” he said, “I never had a concussion. I have never felt anything like this.” He was even more upset because he thought he ruined the pay-per-view with what happened.”
Schiavone said he told Borden he didn’t spoil anything and that the commentary team announced twice that he had arrived at the hospital and was awake and talking, news that “lifted everyone’s spirits.” Schiavone said that he personally got scared at that moment because the first thing that came to mind was Owen Hart’s fatal fall at Over the Edge in 1999. He said he was thankful Borden’s scare was nothing like that.
“It’s hard, and it’s hard for broadcasters because you have to keep moving forward,” he said. “You have to keep the excitement going. Until you hear a certain thing. You really can’t let the moment drag you down.”
