Thekla responded to Mercedes Mone’s recent comments directed at her, which the AEW star said were meant for someone else, not her.

In the promo, Monae told her opponent that she can be as toxic as she wants, saying that she has dealt with selfish people throughout her career. The AEW Women’s World Champion then delivered the “five foot dumb blonde” line, asking her if a dumb blonde who doesn’t like wrestling might intimidate her. While she addressed Thekla, many felt it was a smear against her former WWE partner Alexa Bliss, who she reportedly had a real crush on. Bliss is also nicknamed “Five Feet of Fury,” further fueling speculation that Monet’s comments were directed at the WWE star.
Monae and Thekla have yet to face each other in singles competition and have actually been on the same side the two times they’ve shared the ring, teaming up in multiple women’s tag team matches. However, a match between them could happen soon, as Thekla and Willow Nightingale, two former champions, will meet at All Out to determine the No. 1 contender for Monet’s title.
