AEW and ROH star Anthony Henry hasn’t been in a wrestling ring since July, and as it turns out on social media, there’s a legitimate reason for that.
A new one Instagram reelHenry revealed that his long-term neck injury could require major surgery, meaning his future in professional wrestling is currently up in the air. Additionally, Henry was dealing with bicep and elbow injuries.
“In 2021, I was in a game and I got hurt. It turned out I was actually herniating two discs in my cervical spine at C5, C6,” Henry said. “Once we figured out what it really was, I had an epidural and that helped a ton. Within a few months I was good to go. Let’s be real though, these injuries never really fully heal, do they? And my most recent MRI shows bulging or herniated discs all through my neck, bone herniations wedged between them, and the herniation is still there.
“Honestly, it’s scary,” he continued. “Unfortunately, this has been a recurring problem, especially over the past year. I did the PT and the epidurals just stopped working. I’m getting two separate opinions, but everything I’ve read points to neck fusion surgery.”
Despite the shocking reality of her cervical health, Henry noted that she chooses to move forward with an optimistic mindset, especially after learning that Adam “Edge” Copeland, Tommaso Ciampaand: “Stone Cold” Steve Austin returned from previous similar neck fusion surgeries. Copeland and Ciampa are now Henry’s partners in AEW.
WorkHorseman himself is a 25-year veteran of the squared circle and certainly doesn’t know how much time he has left in his career. However, he fully intends to come back from whatever lies ahead “better, stronger and more skilled” than ever.
Expect more updates on Henry’s neck and in-ring career in the near future via his Instagram. Last month he underwent another operationthis is due to a complication from a previous torn biceps repair.
