In the background of the news Their AEW contracts are reportedly set to expire soonAnthony Bowens has a simple, one-word answer on whether or not he’ll ever reunite with former tag team partner Max Custer. Bowens and Custer were known as The Acclaimed but the once popular tag team split early last year.
When a fan asked Bowens if The Acclaimed would ever reunite on X (formerly Twitter), Bowens cited the post and simply answered “no”. The team briefly reunited this year after splitting up to come together at the House of Glory show in March, before clash against each other and then sign a truceat WrestlePro’s 10th anniversary show in April.

According to Fightful Select As of Wednesday, both Custer and Bowens’ AEW contracts are set to expire in early October, and there’s no word on whether either star is negotiating a new deal, or has even been offered one. Since splitting up as a team, Bowens has joined The Opps alongside Samoa Joe, Hook, Katsuyori Shibata, and Action Andretti, but Custer hasn’t appeared on AEW television much at all.
Custer’s last match with the company was in December 2025 when he appeared in the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale. He has been active on the independent scene, most recently wrestling for Beyond Wrestling in July. Bowens wrestled alongside Hook, Shibata and Andretti AEW All In London Buy-In Show at the end of August.
Bowens and Custer held the AEW World Tag Team Championship once for 140 days. They also held the AEW World Triathlon Championship with Billy Gunn for a 238-day run.
