AEW’s Adam Copeland explained how wrestling at Maple Leaf Gardens was more to him than wrestling in any other arena.
Copeland is coming off a legendary career and has many items on his pro wrestling bucket list, one of which was to wrestle at Maple Leaf Gardens, a venue where he watched many wrestling shows in his youth. After wrestling at the Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling venue, the AEW star looked back fondly on the experience and reflected on what it meant to him, speaking; Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s YouTube channel.
“For me, this (Maple Leaf Gardens) was easily the most important place for me to wrestle at Wembley, against any of them,” Copeland said. “Maple Leaf Gardens was always the one place I wanted to go. And here we are today. No, I never thought I’d be a crestfallen at Maple Leaf Gardens. After I was retired for nine years and then I even got back into my career once, just with the landscape of what wrestling was and where I was going to Garden if I was dreaming that I was dreaming. wrestling over there, I got to host my own show.’
The dream of wrestling in the place that holds so many great memories for him seemed out of reach once he joined AEW. He said Scott D’Amore, former TNA president and owner of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, played a key role in helping him realize that dream.
“And then me and Scott D’Amore, we started talking and we realized. “Wait, this is possible now that I’m with AEW. We can actually do it,” he said.
Copeland has announced that 2027 will be his last year wrestling, and he has seemingly wrestled in every stadium he could dream of; The Tokyo Dome is potentially the only one left.
