Now the AEW World Tag Team Champions againThe Young Bucks seem to be feeling the timing of their AEW career, prompting them to pay tribute to their boss, Tony Khan. Back in the WrestleDream episode “Being Elite” Matt and Nick Jackson were discussing how proud they were their WrestleDream match against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight as Nick began talking about a brief moment when he looked into the camera and told Khan he wasn’t sure how much longer he could perform at this level. He admitted he didn’t know why he said that, but used it as a trick for both himself and Matt to praise Khan as a leader and as a person.
“I would do anything for Tony at this point,” Nick said. “I love that man. We’ve given our whole careers to him and he’s given us so much. I don’t think he gets enough praise and credit from us.”
“I texted him on his birthday about it,” Matt said. “I said, ‘You changed my life, mate. I’ll never forget you.’
Alongside Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes and Brandi Rhodes, Bucks and Khan were key figures in the launch of AEW in 2019, with Bucks stating in his autobiography that Khan had approached them about the idea for AEW the previous summer. Despite some bumps in the road, especially the feud between the Bucks and former AEW star CM Punk in 2022 and 2023The Bucks have remained one of the main acts in AEW since its inception, as their most recent tag title win at All Out was the AEW World Tag Team Championship record in company history.
