AEW President Tony Khan has been vocal about his WCW fans since the company’s inception, and now AEW World Champion Will Osprey recently revealed his affinity for one of WCW’s top divisions. The Air Assassin boarded WKMG News 6 in Orlando before the thing Clockwork Carnage match at AEW WrestleDream 2026where he eventually successfully defended his gold and talked about how he started honing his craft when he was young.
“My mom put the trampoline in my back garden and I was watching the WCW cruiserweights,” Ospreay said. “I watched them practice their tricks. I would like to pause, step back, see where their hands are and how they move their bodies. Then I would sit on the trampoline and try it. I was disgusted by it, and my mother saw that I was in trouble at school, and from the outside, she said: garden”.
Osprey joked that one can only imagine how wonderful his family was to all the neighbors who heard the crash and punches all around him while practicing things in the ring. Following him neck surgery in September 2025 that kept him out of the AEW ring for a long time, Osprey had to change his style a bitbut those changes didn’t stop him from finally capturing the AEW World Championship at AEW All In London 2026 at Wembley Stadium.
