We have massive news to break down as the North Siders officially stamp their ticket to October! “Starting with the Cubs making it back to the playoffs for the second year in a row! They clinched Thursday against the Marlins in Game 3 of that three-game series!” Securing back-to-back postseason berths is a huge testament to this club’s resilience. However, it was a “bittersweet last home game of the year in Wrigley, especially with the playoffs approaching and the Cubs losing in a doubleheader against the Red Sox yesterday, the last game of the series.” Because of how the final standings and tiebreakers are shaking out across the National League, “The Cubs might now play a playoff series in Wrigley this year,” meaning North Side fans may have to watch this postseason run unfold entirely on the road.
Despite the tough drop in the standings, we received some critical positive news on the injury front! “Alex Bregman returned in Game 1 of that doubleheader against the Sox and said after the game that he felt good and just needed to get back to how he was feeling!” Having Breggy back in the lineup is huge, “and the Cubs need him to because October baseball will only get harder.” His elite plate discipline, veteran leadership, and vacuum defense at third base are absolute requirements if this team plans on making a deep run toward a pennant.
However, the league’s scheduling decisions are putting an immense physical strain on our roster right when rest matters most. “The MLB is making the cubs trip to the playoffs even harder by what i mentioned earlier when i stated the cubs are playing there last game at Tropicana Field due to bad weather approaching in boston!” Forcing the team to relocate and travel all the way down to Florida for a single neutral-site game is completely absurd. It is “unfair that the Cubs lose a crucial off day to travel! I felt MLB could have handled this better,” especially considering the fatigue building up across the pitching staff and position players alike.
As we turn the page toward the Wild Card round, management and the coaching staff have to navigate these logistical headaches seamlessly. “All in all, the Cubs need to make sure they’re well rested after this series because it will be go time; the bats can’t be as dead as they are during the final series of the year!” If the lineup can wake up and regain its mid-season form, this roster has the talent to make noise in October, no matter where the games are played!
