The Spurs issued a press release officially announcing the 21-man roster for training camp. In addition to the 20 players we already knew about, this group includes a former UNC guard RJ Daviswhich is listed as a draft camp.
Davis signed a 10-year contract with the Lakers last July after going undrafted out of North Carolina and spending his first season with the South Bay Lakers, Los Angeles’ G-League affiliate. In 49 games at the NBAGL level, the 6’0″ guard averaged 18.4 points, 4.9 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 29.6 minutes per game, posting a strong .468/.424/.864 shooting line. The performance earned him a spot on the G League All-Rookie Team.
After spending last season with the G-League Lakers, Davis suited up for the San Antonio Summer League team in July and then traded his NBAGL rights back to the Austin Spurs.
In all probability, he signed Agreement 10 from San Antonio, which would put him in line for a bonus of up to $91,000 on top of his standard G League base salary if he opts out and then spends at least 60 days with Austin this season.
Davis is one of four invitees to Spurs camp on non-guaranteed deals who join John Elmore, Thelon Peterand Malik Williams. San Antonio also has 14 players on standard guaranteed contracts three on bilateral contracts.
