The Bridges Cup will return for its fourth match from October 5-7, bringing together 24 male mid-amateurs from 5 continents in a fitting reflection of the global reach of elite amateur golf.
This year’s match will be played at Trump Turnberry in Scotland and will feature five sessions of matches (two four-ball matches and two foursomes matches played during the first two days, and 12 singles matches on the final day) on the King Robert the Bruce and Ailsa courses. The Ailsa course is a four-time host of the Open Championship, with an illustrious list of winners including Tom Watson, Greg Norman, Nick Price and Stewart Cink.
The 24 Bridges Cup players form two teams – 12 US players and 12 Internationals. The select list of players was chosen by captains Jeff Fujimoto (United States) and Simon Holt (International) and features a mix of long-time enthusiasts, returning former professionals, championship veterans and business executives. Half of this year’s participants are returning to the competition after competing in at least one previous edition.
The Bridges Cup was created in 2022 to create a first-class international team competition for accomplished amateurs beyond the traditional university-age path. The inaugural match was played at the Club at Nine Bridges on Jeju Island in South Korea, where the US team won 14-12. In 2023, the competition traveled to Les Bordes in France, with the Americans defeating Team Europe, 19-11.
In 2024, the match returned to South Korea at Haesley Nine Bridges and adopted the broader identity of Team International. That contest produced the closest finish in the event’s young history. The USA team prevailed 17-15, with the result coming down to the final putt, on the final green, in the final match.
At Trump Turnberry, the United States team will be represented by Drew Kittleson, Dennis Bull, Cody Massa, Scott Anderson, John Peterson, Hoyt McGarity, Andrew Medley, Andrew Price, Drew Stoltz, Scott Strickland and DJ Lantz, under the leadership of captain Jeff Fujimoto.
Team International will consist of Lukas Michel from Australia; Andrew Davidson, Josh Jamieson, Gavin Dear, Angus Carrick, James White and Callum Hill, all Scotland; Jacob Austin of England; Ireland’s Colm Campbell and Caolan Rafferty; Dan Faccini of Colombia; and Jonathan Bale of Wales, under the leadership of captain Simon Holt of Scotland.
