Golf

I’m A Frugal Golfer But Here Are 3 “Unnecessary” Purchases I Stand Behind.

You know the drill.

We talked before. I’m a coupon guy. Someone who does not like to spend a lot of money on golf equipment. Because the less money I spend on golf, the more money I have to buy shoes (for my kid, not me. He’s growing like a weed!).

The thing I’ve learned over years of shopping the discount section and downloading every food app on the planet to earn free rewards is that there are things in life worth splurging on.

This is the case with the three things I mentioned.

1. Prescription sunglasses

I recently discovered that my eyesight was getting worse and so I am now out of the four-eyed mafia. What I didn’t know as someone who hadn’t had an eye exam in over 15 years was how expensive eyeglasses and sunglasses are.

But after a few times of having trouble seeing where my ball was landing on longer par-3s, I decided I needed to try some prescription specs.

I tried this pair Smith prescription sunglasses with its highly contrasting Chromapop Bronze lenses and they have been a godsend. Obviously, the prescription helps correct the problems I already have, but the Bronze lens in particular is great because it accentuates the greens in a way that a typical lens doesn’t.

Do I need prescription sunglasses? No. My eyesight is not that bad. But does it improve my gaming experience? For sure.

2. NIKE Air Zoom HyperSlide

This is absolutely less practical than prescription sunglasses. But he likes it all the same. After a long day on the course, your feet deserve some TLC. If you take care of your feet, they will take care of you. And no one does a better job of providing recovery to your most important extremities than NIKE and Hyperice.

U NIKE Air Zoom HyperSlide it uses heat and vibration to speed up the recovery process so you can spend less time on the couch and more time working on your chipping.

3. Feetures Golf socks

Tony Covey, our editor in chief, gave me this.

Ever since I joined MyGolfSpy four years ago, I’ve heard them rant and rave about how good Feetures i am. Now that I’ve joined the Feetures fandom, I’m not sure I can go back.

Something about a $19 golf sock just feels so wrong. But oh my god, they feel so good. The cushioning on the heel tab and the compression is just something I haven’t experienced in any other sock.

Yes, they are good. And, so far, they’re holding up pretty well after numerous rounds of use (and some basketball too).
