Last year’s field: Denver (1), Patriots (2), Jaguars (3), Steelers (4), Texans (5), Bills (6), Chargers (7)
Comeback Season: The Chiefs seem to be back as if they never left. Kansas City made the playoffs for 10 straight seasons between 2015 and 2024, but last year wasn’t his year, as he finished the regular season 6-11 and shockingly missed the postseason. Additionally, Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL in Week 15. Well, that’s all a thing of the past, as the Chiefs are 4-0 this season, including 2-0 in the division, with wins over Denver and Las Vegas. And while Mahomes has been good in four games, he’s been newly hired under Kenneth Walker III who has carried the load. He has an NFL-high 537 rushing yards and is averaging an NFL-best 6.2 yards per carry.
Need a charger: The Chargers entered the season as the favorites to win the AFL. Now, after an 0-4 start, they are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in the Jim Harbaugh era. Los Angeles has lost seven straight dating back to Week 16 of 2025, and Justin Herbert has two more interceptions than touchdowns this season.

Last year’s field: Seahawks (1), Bears (2), Eagles (3), Panthers (4), Rams (5), 49ers (6), Packers (7)
Gold Rush: The 49ers are off to a 4-0 start, with wins over the Rams and Broncos, two teams that reached their respective conference championship games last season. San Francisco has reached the NFC Championship Game in each of the previous four seasons in which it started 4-0. Veterans are leading the charge. The Niners’ 11 touchdowns by players age 30 and older are the most in a team’s first four games in NFL history. Brock Purdy has also impressed, throwing 11 touchdowns and just one interception. San Francisco now has the shortest odds to make the playoffs in the NFC.
Are you packing it?: What’s going on with the Packers? They’ve made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, but this year hasn’t started the way they’d hoped. Green Bay lost by 17 at Minnesota in Week 1, beat the Jets by three on the road in Week 2, then lost by 21 at home to the Falcons in Week 3. The Packers picked up a Week 4 win over the Buccaneers, but even that was a struggle. They won 17-14 against an undrafted rookie quarterback making his first career start. Through four weeks, Green Bay has been outscored 105-73, and each of its division rivals — Minnesota, Detroit and Chicago — has shorter odds to make the playoffs.
