The way 49ers wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling suddenly ended his route and started limping on one leg had everyone thinking the worst.
Stribling has a left ankle injury, coach Kyle Shanahan said after the 49ers’ 27-7 win over the Rams, but the rookie’s Achilles is intact.
Stribling will undergo further medical tests to determine the severity of the injury.
He injured his ankle early in the game and was questionable to return, but after running up and down the sideline, Stribling returned.
With 7:16 left in the first half, however, Stribling pulled away by running a route. He could not put any weight on his left leg and needed help to get to the medical tent. Eventually, Stribling was taken to the X-ray room.
The 49ers quickly waived him.
He had no grip.
