Soares entered Week 9 of DWCS 2026 to impress Dana White and UFC matchmakers. The 22-year-old did just that, finishing off his Japanese counterpart in a short but explosive battle. He was visibly emotional in his post-fight interview.
“I can’t believe I’m here,” Soares said through an interpreter in his post-fight interview Laura Sanko. “I’ve dreamed of this since I was seven years old.”
Asked how White praised his fight and finish, Soares said it felt like a dream and that he was ready to deliver on the big stage.
“It felt like a dream come true,” Soares said. “I came here to fight the best because I believe I am the best.”
