Evloev intends to challenge Alexander Volkanovsky for
Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight title at
UFC 333 On October 24 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The Russian challenger has won all 10 of his UFC bouts but believes fans appreciate his fighting style.
Movsar Evloev claims wrestling can entertain UFC fans ahead of Volkanovski title fight
recent departures of the year Michael Page and Farid Basharat has fueled debate over whether a win would be enough to secure a new UFC contract. Neither fighter re-signed despite their streak of winning, though neither is due to a lack of finishes.
Evloev believes that the finish is not the only measure of a fighter’s worth. According to him, fans also appreciate tactics, skill and wrestling.
“I have zero finishes in the UFC, but I’m still in the UFC and fighting for the title,” Evloev told MMA Fighting. “It means that only finishes are not important. Showing a good fight is also important. If you don’t have a finish, you can still show a good fight, an exciting fight; you can show the beauty of wrestling. MMA fans are not the only ones who expect only blood. There are so many good fans who know and understand MMA, and maybe because of them I am still in the UFC.”
#UFC333 Movsar Evloev credits the fans for being in the UFC despite not getting a zero finish: “It’s not just MMA fans out there just waiting for blood. There are so many good fans out there who know and understand MMA, and maybe it’s because of them that I’m still in the UFC.” (🎥 @JoseYoungs) https://t.co/cvpUBVusyb
