We’re back with another YouTube Golf Power Rankings update and there’s a new name near the top of the rankings.
The Handicap Tracker monitors scores from YouTube golf videos and calculates an in-camera handicap for each player. Here are the current top 10:
- Bryson DeChambeau (+9.5)
- Jason Day (+8.7)
- Ian Poulter (+8.1)
- Brad Dalke (+7.0)
- Ryan Ruffels (+6.9)
- Nick Voke (+6.9)
- Pavan Sagoo (+6.8)
- Sean Walsh (+6.4)
- James Nicholas (+6.2)
- Chance Taylor (+6.1)
- Jean-Philippe Mehu (+6.1)
Ian Poulter is the big addition since our last update, jumping straight into third at +8.1. Ryan Ruffels also continues to climb and is now tied for fifth at +6.9. Now we enter the biggest movements from August 30th to September 12th.
Danny Elder
Elder was easily the biggest mover this time, jumping 10 spots to a +3.7 handicap.
He shot 4 under nine on the Burnside Course at Carnoustie. It was good for a 6 under adjusted differential and also produced the largest single video handicap cut of this update.
Nick Neal
Neal had two turnovers that helped him climb five points to +4.0.
It started with an even turn at Bear Creek, but the big one came at Torrey Pines North. Neal shot 68 (4-under) there, producing an adjusted 6.6-under differential.
Ashley Mullin
Even for Royal Norwich it was enough to keep Mullin moving in the right direction.
The difficulty of the course turned that score into an adjusted differential of 1.3 under. Mullin gained four places and now stands at +0.2.
Peter Finch
Finch was 3-under through 15 holes at Lucan Golf Club, resulting in an adjusted differential of 3.6-under. A tougher round at Abergele followed, but the overall result was still a jump of four positions. Finch is now at +3.2.
Josh Rutherford
Payne’s Valley gave Rutherford one of his best Handicap Tracker rounds.
He finished 1 under but, once course difficulty was taken into consideration, the adjusted differential dropped to 3.9 under. Rutherford gained four positions and improved to +3.3.
Chris Kromlidis
Kromlidis went low at Joondalup Quarry, shooting 5 under on nine holes. This resulted in a 5.3 under adjusted differential and helped him climb another three positions.
Mazelyn
Mazelyn didn’t need a low turn to gain ground this time. She was 5-over through 15 holes at La Costa Nord, but still moved up two spots as the leaderboard moved around her. His Handicap Tracker number is now 4.2.
Riggs
It was a similar story for Riggs.
His round at Pinehurst No. 8 did not produce an adjusted differential under par, but still gained two positions in the ranking. Riggs now sits at a 4.1 handicap.
Ryan Ruffels
Ruffels had the best stretch of golf in this update and is very close to the top of the leaderboard.
He shot 3 under at Quintero and then 7 under at Stewart Creek. Those rounds produced adjusted differentials of 6.6 under and 7.9 under, respectively. He also added an even round to Arroyo Trabuco who played at 1.5 under after the adjustment.
Jake Adams
Adams reached an important number in this update: scratch.
His two rounds weren’t among the lowest scores of the period, but he still gained two places and moved his Handicap Tracker number to 0.0.
The Biggest Handicap Impact (single video)
Danny Elder had the biggest single video handicap impact this time.
His 4-under nine-hole performance on the Burnside Course at Carnoustie cut 0.8 off his handicap.
Nik Neal was next after his 4-under 68 at Torrey Pines North cut 0.6. Paddy Moloney also cut 0.6 with an 86 (+14) in the Fore Bros Major Championship while Brad Dalke’s 6-under 66 cut 0.4.
