I knew I was going to love the chaos that was the main event that finally pitted 946’s Royce Keys, Bronco Nima, and Lucien Price against The Usos and Solo Sikoa, even though I knew it was going to end badly because of Jaida Parker or a returning Jacob Fatu or something. After all, we are building a Survivor Series. on Wargames, and we’ve had quite a while before that, so the intervention angle made sense, at least in my mind.
I loved when Adam Pearce told referee Chad Patton backstage to basically ignore the chaos and just count the pin or call the bell for a submission, making it a near no disqualification match because he knew where things were going too. However, I didn’t expect to love the addition of Carmelo Hayes to the 946.
After Hayes blacked out his X profile over the weekend, I started to worry in the back of my mind as to whether or not his contract was up. We haven’t seen him on WWE programming since August, and he notably missed SummerSlam after missing WrestleMania. I thought if something happened, we’d hear about it this week, and then I kind of got over it. When I realized it was his face behind the bandana when he broke Sikoa’s Samoan Spike, I let out a small squeal of joy in my living room. I’m so excited to see him on TV and in one of the biggest corners in WWE right now.
The match itself was chaotic fun, starting with a brawl and ending with an even bigger brawl. The Usos and OTM once again battled in the crowd and almost to the back like we saw at Money in the Bank over the weekend. I especially liked Parker’s involvement; After he sent Patton over the ring barrier to start the second half of the frenzy, he also hit The Usos, who jumped into the crowd on the floor below.
I thought Keys and Sicoa, who stayed at ringside, did a good job of keeping the camera on them when needed after a spot was missed early in the match. Sicoa sent Keys through the commentary table and slammed him into the ring, and that’s when Hayes came out. He helped the 946 defeat Bloodline and the formidable faction rose to their feet to end the show.
I love this for the Hayes and I love this for the 946. I’m excited to see where this goes into WarGames and the angle makes Raw one to watch.
